GrandStay Hotel and Suites

We chose this over the americinn across the street and ended up checking out early. We’d rather drive 1.5 hours than spend another night here. The suite kitchenette was poorly stocked, the drawers were dirty, and the glasses had a cloudy film from cleaning or were still dirty. The dishwasher was supposedly full of clean dishes, so I guess we were meant to unload it ourselves. The daytime desk staff were often outside on smoke breaks, making it hard to communicate. The pool and spa were closed all weekend for a “chemical imbalance.” It seemed like they didn’t want a busy pool on a busy weekend. I appreciate the owner’s response, but we were specifically told the pool was closed, as were several other guests, and there was a sign saying so. The Friday desk worker was very nice and called across the street to ask if we could use that pool. It’s unfortunate if the pool was actually open.

Sara deserves a raise! She was friendly and kept chatting with us while she worked, and had breakfast ready in time for our early schedule without letting it get cold.

The bed was really hard, and the couch sat so low it was hard to get up from. Breakfast was rubbery eggs, bacon, and sausage, and for $150 a night the very dirty floor felt like it had never been cleaned. We were exhausted, so we didn’t get a refund and leave. Staff didn’t seem to care about our concerns. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. 😒

My husband and I are on our honeymoon, and I was pleased with everything. The pool was warm and felt great to swim in, the room had good TV channels, and breakfast was so good. We also got a lovely room, and the front desk lady was friendly and really nice. Definitely worth it. If we come back to this area, I’m staying here again!
