Super 8 Motel Valparaiso

The juice machine at breakfast wasn't working, so I couldn't have any breakfast. I was especially looking forward to apple juice. Still, for the price this is a very nice hotel. It was clean and felt safe, and checking in close to 11 pm was no problem. The bed was decently comfortable. The pool was closed, but that was fine with me. It's pretty bare-bones, though you get what you pay for.

The hospitality here was top-notch, and I loved the tucked-away spot in a nice plot of land. It's right next to a red Robin that plays music all day and night, but you can't hear it unless you walk right up to the restaurant, so it doesn't disturb you. That made for a great trip. I smoked a joint and listened to some jams. The room smelled stale, though a bit more laundry, deep cleaning, and fresh air could fix that. I hope it's open next time I'm in the area. Highly recommend.

The guy at the front desk was really rude when I asked for a first-floor room because there’s no elevator. He told me I didn't look disabled. The room also wasn't very clean, with crumbs on the floor, and there was a penny on each bed for some reason. The place is very run down, with lots of cracked floor tiles that are a tripping hazard. Like all Super 8 hotels, it needs updating. We were only there one night, thankfully, and definitely won't stay here again.

The pillows were awful, just lumps of old, hard stuffing in pillowcases. And don't assume breakfast comes with the booking, even if the apps say it does. You'd be lucky to get a cup of coffee. The treatment from staff was horrendous too. One of the maids swore at me in front of the owner, and he just shrugged it off. I told him I would report them to the Indiana General Attorneys Office for Consumer Protection if he didn't address it. He reluctantly had her apologize, but I still think they should be reported.
