Cadillac Hotel

I had a good time here and met people from other countries at breakfast, which was good. I’m not sure what we paid per night, but I thought it was fairly cheap. Honestly, the room was probably like a Motel 6 room. Its best things are the location, the view, and the history. Get a top-floor room near the balcony if you can, because the ocean view is really good. I liked that the rooms weren’t fancy, since that probably kept them affordable. If they remodeled, I think they could easily charge at least $200 a night. As it is, around $120 seems fair. The staff didn’t buy me at all. I’ll keep it as a good memory.

We thought it was a great hotel and would book again, though next time we’d get an oceanfront room. The rooftop was awesome, with a great view of everything, and the beach is just steps away. Breakfast was simple but good, and the WiFi worked much better than places we usually stay. The room was basic, with wood floors, but we were only there to sleep. There’s no air conditioning, but with the window open it felt nice at night, and we weren’t in the room much anyway. The staff were friendly and kept our suitcases until check-in. If you’re not high maintenance, you’d probably love it.

The location is amazing, the beds are comfortable, and I liked the hotel enough that I’d come back. Homeless people slept near the hotel, but they didn’t bother us. There are homeless people all over Venice Beach at night. We gave some our leftover food, and they were kind and grateful. Just know there’s no A/C, fridge, or microwave in the room, though there’s a microwave in the lobby. The breakfast wasn’t worth the price, which felt too high.

One of my favorite places in LA. The staff are excellent, and the rooms feel modern and nice even though they’re on the small side. The hotel is always clean, despite the carpet or paint sometimes looking a bit dingy. Ask if you need a mini fridge. I wish they did more with the great rooftop, which is a lovely spot to watch the sunset or relax.
