SpringHill Suites by Marriott Vernal

Dylan at the front desk was so nice and helpful, and the cleaning team left our room spotless. It was much nicer than I expected, with a layout that worked well for getting ready with the family because the bathroom was split into separate areas. The place made our trip to vernal a lot more pleasant and felt very family friendly. When we come back to vernal for adventures, this is where we'll stay.

The breakfast was a real highlight: plenty to choose from, including eggs, sausage, frittatas, egg sandwiches, yogurt, juices, oatmeal toppings, bagels, muffins, and waffles. There were even two vegan or non-dairy milk options, and the area was clean. We also liked the room's bright lighting, large walk-in closet, clean shower, body sprayers, and Alice + C Botanicals products. The property looks modern and attractive, and the lobby was spotless with a pleasant smell. Our room was generally clean too, though there was a large stain on the floor. We checked in an hour early, which was appreciated, but the front desk employee's monotone manner and lack of help with our bags or room made a poor first impression. There were several maintenance and cleaning problems in the room. The fridge wasn't as cold as we'd hoped and its controls didn't seem to work. It was dirty around the sides, underneath, and behind it, and there was sticky residue inside at the bottom. The AC area had dust, dirt, bits of concrete, and a few small beetles, and some shelves were very dusty. The shower leaked enough that we had to put a towel down to stop a big puddle. Bathroom and closet can lights worked, but could be replaced with LEDs. The pool and spa area seemed the most neglected, with rust and discoloration. Both sets of handrails were broken, and the spa rail had come completely loose from the concrete. The spa water was an alarming green. Its jets ran from a push button on a fixed 15-minute timer. Some poolside outlets had no power, the pool wasn't heated, and what looked like broken or replacement equipment was left unsecured. An extension cord ran through the pool area into the equipment room, and ceiling speakers were falling out with no music playing. The hotel's spot is a bit awkward to get around because you have to navigate between other buildings and parking lots.

We had a comfortable, clean stay in a spacious room with a thoughtful layout. The man at the front desk was really nice and helpful. We'd choose this hotel again if we're back in town.

The room was clean and the staff were pleasant. Breakfast was a letdown, though: there was no coffee at 7 a.m., and once the hot food ran out, nobody replenished it. The hot tub wasn't working either, but they kindly let us use the one next door.
