Hotel Indigo Chicago-Vernon Hills by IHG

The pool was under construction, breakfast cost extra and had limited choices, and we had to wait for it. The ice machine was only on the first floor. Our room didn’t have a microwave, which was a first for us. When we asked, we were told housekeeping found them too much work to clean. We had to carry our dishes and food to the next floor to heat it up, then bring everything back. That was really inconvenient. Maybe each floor should have its own washroom to make cleaning easier. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The staff were friendly, but I’m not sure management is keeping up any standard of quality. The rooms are spacious, though a lot of things are old, worn, and dirty. It doesn’t look like the photos, and the hotel hasn’t been updated. The pool will be closed for the next four months, there isn’t a single USB port in the room, the restaurant isn’t really a restaurant, and the bar wasn’t open. Don’t count on dinner or drinks at the lobby “Bar.” It used to be a nice hotel years ago, but now it’s two stars at best.

We had a great stay while visiting for my niece’s Navy Boot Camp graduation, and I’d definitely recommend the place and come back. The rooms were perfect. Everyone treated us wonderfully, from the desk clerk who made sure we were comfortable and accommodated us in every way, to the bar attendant and the ladies cooking in the kitchen. Housekeeping was sweet to us too.

I came with my brothers for a family funeral and was glad to find such a comfortable, clean, peaceful place. The staff matched that feeling. Manager Trent and Sadie on the third shift at the front desk were professional, polite, and personable. If you want some peace at a hotel, this was it.
