Best Western Plus Victoria Inn & Suites

The mattresses were worn out, the blankets were rough, and the parking lot was small. We usually enjoy staying with Plus, but this time the room wasn't what we paid for. Booking online and checking in were both fine. When my wife went to the desk to ask about the room, the guy tried to talk her into keeping it. We'll probably use our free room, then go back to IHG.

We booked four rooms for three nights after calling several hotels to check whether the hot tub would be working. We were told it would be. The GM said he'd given maintenance the holiday off, then said they had come to turn off the hot tub. It was supposedly out because the “motor went out” on the first night, worked on the second, then was “leaking” on the third. Our family chooses hotels with hot tubs because we like using them together, so that was frustrating. The manager seemed resentful and unhappy, and it felt like he didn't want guests to enjoy themselves. He was rude and short with people from all four rooms. When guests asked for help, he wouldn't come out of the dark office in the corner and spoke from inside it. One morning, we saw him on the floor outside our room with his phone, looking under another room's door, or maybe “stretching his back.” He also called about our room door lock being left in the locked position and told us to stop going in and out because we'd break the latch. The way he spoke to us was so rude. We have plenty of family who stay here regularly, but we won't return. The rooms were just okay and could be cleaner and more up to date. There was no bar of soap, the towels were frayed, and the pool towels were old, stained bathroom towels. Furniture upholstery had holes. The bathtub faucet kept leaking and didn't work right when switched to shower mode. Overall, I'd give it a 2.5. Best Western can do much better.

The room was clean and the staff were friendly, but the main reason we picked Best western was the hot tub, and it turned out they'd closed it for the season. I tried to take a hot bath instead, but the stopper wouldn't hold water. The front desk said we couldn't use the bathtub because they were having trouble with leaks and had stopped guests from taking baths.

This place has lost its shine since I last visited a couple of years ago. The first room smelled really musty. The second was a bit better, but the air conditioner was very weak.
