Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Victoria by IHG

The pool and hot tub weren’t functioning, and I only realized that after looking out my room window and seeing the disgusting scene in the attached picture. I always choose a place with a pool so I can take a quick morning dip. If I’d known, I would’ve booked elsewhere, and the room price should be lower when amenities aren’t available. They also didn’t tell me about the renovations until after I’d booked. Inside the room, there was pubic hair in the tub, a faucet that hadn’t been wiped, dirty sheets, a bug on the bed, a used toothpick on the floor, and a wall panel coming apart. I can get past some room grime since I wipe things down before using them, but the pool situation really bothered me.

The breakfast was good, just standard. We were on the second floor, which had recently been remodeled, and it had a faint carpet glue smell. When we first came in, I couldn’t tell what was under construction. The staff were excellent, friendly, and helpful. It was nice enough.

We booked a room on April 24th after our daughter was released from the hospital in Houston. Her fiancé had died in an accident, and we wanted to give her a moment with him at the funeral home the next morning. We’d been through a horrific family tragedy, and when I went in to get our key, Tristan had already heard what happened before we got into any business. He offered condolences and spoke with me in such an uplifting way. I’ve traveled for years and don’t think I’ve met a kinder person. His words were full of wisdom and kindness, a true man of god and a real asset to the company. At a time when God is left out or asked not to be in places, Tristan made him known and created a welcoming, comfortable feeling through his attitude. That brief encounter brought us more than you can imagine during a very dark time. Thank you for the experience and for letting his light shine happiness on us.

Tristan, the manager, knew his rooms, availability, and policies and was so polite and courteous. I loved my stay, have told others about it, and will definitely be back soon.
