DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Orlando Disney Springs

A solid 5.5 out of 10. This feels more like a convenient hotel on Disney property than a resort. There’s a pool, tennis courts and a small gym, but not much else that feels resort-like. The room was decent: we had a king suite with a small fridge, sink and a nice little table, handy for storing snacks and drinks on a longer stay instead of paying resort prices. It’s clean and fine, if a little dated, and nothing stood out as a major negative. The AC and heat broke, but were fixed within an hour. Food choices are limited to a small bar, lobby restaurant and snack cafe, all okay. There are more places about a mile away, including a starbs, other restaurants and Walgreens. The hotel sits near the edge of Disney property, close to the highway, probably the first property hotel from MCO. Buses to the Disney attractions come frequently, which is useful if that’s what you’re here for.

The breakfast buffet was fully stocked, like what we used to get before COVID, with plenty of hot, fresh choices. It was a great way to start the day, and our waitress was lovely. Hunter also gave me helpful ideas for places to work on my laptop during a few daytime meetings. The front desk staff were all amazing, and my room was clean, nice and very quiet. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the hotel and staff were, especially for a reasonably priced place close to the action.

There was debris on the counters when we arrived, and I wiped them down myself. I also found hair on the toilet and white fuzz on the carpet. It was odd that they’d told us at check-in the room wasn’t ready. The shower leaked, and the windows weren’t clear when looking out. I don’t recommend staying here. We should have stayed on property or at a real Hilton property.

The rooms were spacious, clean and well kept, with enough room for our family of five. The fridge and sink were useful, and the staff were eager to help and sorted out every issue. We also enjoyed the pool, free cookies and a good breakfast with lots of choices, including Mickey Waffles. The hot tub was out of service, which was the only real issue. The included hotel buses were great, less crowded than the Disney free ones, and the QR code made booking easy. We also got early park entry. Bus options were more limited than the Mouse buses, but even with a few Ubers we still saved money overall. Disney Springs and 711/restaurants were a 15-minute walk along shady, tree-lined pavement. We took an easy 20-minute Uber to Universal since the hotel is near the highway. We were very happy, except for the hot tub and some overzealous timeshare salespeople prowling the lobby.
