Victorville Travelodge

My family and I needed somewhere for the night while visiting Victorville, but I absolutely hated this place and won’t return. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes, so we had to spray Lysol. It was freezing inside, colder than outdoors, and didn’t look cleaned. The TV remote was so dusty even a sanitizing wipe couldn’t fully clean it, and its back was missing and held on with tape. The curtains wouldn’t close all the way, and the fire alarm was messed up.

We stayed two nights and got no room service, and nobody even asked whether we wanted it. There was no coffee or continental breakfast. The bathroom fan didn’t work, there were holes in the walls, and the shower had cracked, broken tiles and no anti-slip surface in the tub. I even found a washcloth in the trash next to the toilet. The outside stairs were uneven, like something from the Winchester house, and at least one set had been taped off. At least the bed was comfortable, the linens were clean, and the room was sufficiently clean. Still, the place is overpriced and overhyped.

The first room had no cold water at all, so they moved us to the only other non-smoking room available. That one had no hot water, and we had to clean dust out of the heater before using it. The smoke detector wires were exposed. I spoke to the front desk that night and again at checkout the next morning. He said maintenance would check to make sure we weren’t lying, then a manager would call me. I’ve called several times myself and still haven’t heard from anyone at the hotel.

The bed was gigantic, and as a short person I had to jump into it. I sank into it too, which made getting out hard. The ice machine was outside, so I had to walk over in very windy weather. There was no complimentary coffee or continental breakfast. For this room price, I was shocked it cost double what the other hotel I’d stayed at charged. My biggest complaint is the lack of coffee for that price. I want at least half my money refunded.
