A handy base for seeing DC, with a Metro stop about 400 yards or one block away and a shopping plaza with restaurants and Walmart roughly 600 yards, about a five-minute walk. There’s a pool, paid laundry, and breakfast each day at no extra charge. The building is old and the furniture could really use an update, though the room had clean, fairly new sheets and towels, strong heating and AC, decent shower pressure, tall ceilings, plenty of outlets, a mini-fridge, microwave, and ironing board. It felt a bit like a European hotel. It’s a budget place with the basics for a few days. One shower tip: push or pull the knob to turn it on.

The room wasn’t cleaned or given fresh towels regularly. They told me housekeeping came every three days unless I checked out, yet each extension was treated like a new reservation. They said they didn’t allow long stays, though I could see other people living there long-term. I was there for about a month, and the daily rate was very expensive. They also took a deposit for each stay, and I never got all of my deposit money back. I was told refunds usually took about a week, and at first I wasn’t paying close attention to the missing amount. Most of the front desk staff were rude and disrespectful. One Black woman there was kind and helpful. Then they suddenly said I couldn’t make any more reservations, without explaining why. I called the police over it, but the hotel wouldn’t explain the situation to them either. A very bad stay. Be careful.

The room was clean, with no strange smell inside or around the building, and we didn’t find any bugs. The mattresses were comfortable, which I really appreciated with my back problems, and the AC and Wi-Fi both worked well. It was quiet much of the time, though the walls are thin and the garbage truck or workers moving things around made a lot of noise for a while in the morning. The rooms are small but okay. There’s a fridge, microwave, stove, and little coffee maker, but no cooking utensils. I skipped breakfast, though I saw waffles and other options, so it looked pretty good for a two-star place. The elevator wasn’t working, which only matters if you have trouble with stairs. For the price, it was worth it. Just sharing this to let people know, not complaining.

I arrived for my reservation at 2:30, and Amal D wouldn’t even check whether the room was ready. She told me to wait 30 minutes, then they’d start checking people in. So much for being a frequent guest who stays in the King suite. I’d thought the place was getting better. The clientele used to be the problem, but now it’s the staff. No customer service at all, and a lousy experience.

After my car broke down late on a Friday, I needed a room and was glad to find this place. The rate was very reasonable and it was a great value. It’s an older hotel, but well maintained, and my room was very clean. The people running it were extremely nice.
