Holiday Inn Express and Suites Vineland Millville by IHG

The location is handy, near the highway, shops, and restaurants, and I’d stay here again. I’ve been three times, and it looks like they renovated since my first visit five years ago. On my two trips in the last three months, both the rooms and bathrooms were updated and clean.

This is our usual little escape when my husband and I want to get away from home. The room was spotless and smelled lovely, and there are pleasant lounge areas, free coffee, and breakfast included. The staff were really nice too. They even provide Dove soap, which I can’t use, but it was still a thoughtful extra. I enjoyed my stay.

We needed somewhere to stay for a night after an electrical problem forced us out of our house. Our two-queen suite was updated and spacious, with lots of counter space and places to sit. Breakfast was plentiful and good, and the staff were friendly. We’d initially booked two nights, but they canceled the second without any fuss when we no longer needed it. I only wish there were a way to connect the hotel to the mall parking lot, so you could get in and out at a traffic light.

We’ve been here around 8-10 times and it’s usually been pretty good, which makes this a shame. Traveling with our three kids, aged 6, 4, and 3, including our oldest who is severely autistic, made the problems especially stressful. We’d driven an hour, unloaded, and got everyone dressed for the pool, only to find it closed. The third-party listing never said so, other than a mention from 2023. The front desk manager, a blonde woman with blue in her hair, said they weren’t responsible because it was posted at the hotel. How would I have known that on the drive over? The same booking site described our room as having a separate private room, but that wasn’t what we got. There was also pee in the toilet, which I initially put down to a cleaning mistake. We had to pack back up and find another hotel with an open pool. Luckily, the Fairfield hotel by Marriott was nearby, the pool was open until 11 p.m., and the staff were kind and understanding. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for maybe two hours. Given the wrong room listing, the unannounced pool closure, the dirty toilet, and all the disruption, I thought a full refund was fair. They offered 50% back for their own errors. When I spoke to the front end manager today, she was very rude; I said I’d dispute the charge with my credit card company, and she replied, “cool perfect have a great day.” I won’t return, and I’ll make sure others know. The Fairfield staff were absolutely amazing and caring.
