Mansion House Inn And Spa

I've stayed at this historic hotel many times and love it. The staff at the front desk are always friendly, and the location is stellar. The ferry is a short walk away, Bunch of Grapes bookstore is just steps away, and several really good restaurants are nearby. It's hard to beat how walkable everything is.

Vineyard Haven is right outside, with lots of good shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. We also liked that the summer crowds had cleared out. We used to choose local B&Bs, but this was less expensive and one of the best places we've ever stayed. The room was lovely and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Michelle.

I've never written a negative review before, but this situation really deserves one. My $50 monthly health club membership was charged on May 1, but my card was declined once. I was notified and immediately gave them a replacement card. Then I was told there would be a $25 fee for that single declined payment, half the monthly membership. According to Massachusetts law, this is considered an “abusive” practice. I asked if they could make a one-time exception, but throughout the process I was made to feel like I was doing something wrong by speaking up for myself. The manager offered no solution and gave conflicting explanations for the fee, first blaming their card processing platform, then their bank. Charging $25 over one declined $50 payment is outrageous. It's sad to see paying customers treated this way.

The team here is top-notch and really wants guests to have a wonderful experience. My two daughters and I needed this vacation, and we found peace, joy, and beauty all around the place. The huge top deck overlooking the harbor is so serene. I also loved the little private porch outside our room. It feels nostalgic and has become part of me. I can't wait to come back soon. Thank you!
