The shuttle made getting around easy all week since our Airbnb was on the hill. We didn’t use the water park, so I can’t speak to that, but the skiing was a real highlight for our family. There were wide trails, good snowmaking, and a nice blend of groomed and natural terrain. Coming back after about 25 years was special too, since I last skied here as a kid with my family. Food service on the mountain let things down. We waited 30 minutes just to order drinks at the restaurant, and the cafeteria food was very basic. At busy lunchtime, tables were often dirty, and it looked like there weren’t enough staff to keep up with wiping them down. We had a great week overall, and the mountain and snow conditions exceeded expectations. Cleaner facilities and faster food service would make the visit even better.

The staff were great, and we had a blast for the day. The waterslides were fun, even with half the place closed. But that wavepool!? Come on! Food was a mixed bag. The nachos were just round chips with mild cheese sauce and Pace salsa or something similar. Meh, not awful. The hot dogs were like the ones at a ball game 👍👍. Chicken strips were great, even my kid ate them, and the fries were good too, though they cool off fast, so eat them quick! Fill the place up, expand, and put in a lazy river!!!!

There was a little bit for everyone, from the spa, pools and arcade to dinners and the outdoor rollercoaster in the woods. We loved the indoor water park and did more of the spring activities too. It’s only a short drive from Rochester, and our twin 2-year-olds and 5-year-old all had a good time without the adults having to give up enjoying themselves at a kid park.

I ended up sitting on the floor by a nook and some trashcans in the upstairs hallway for an hour and a half while my baby napped. We left early, even though we were staying in a nearby town, and I stayed home with her the next day. It was frustrating and disappointing. I guess we’ll have to wait 2-3 years before coming back as a family. My husband and I had gone a couple of weeks earlier with friends, bringing our 9-month-old. We planned to take turns, with one of us skiing while the other stayed in the lodge with the baby, then switch halfway through the day. Finding somewhere to sit while she slept on me was really hard. About 95% of the seats were cafeteria style, either little round backless chairs or benches attached to tables, in a bright, big, busy room. After 45 minutes wandering around the lodge carrying a 20-pound baby, I finally found a dim side room with a couch and a swing. Nobody else was using them. It was the lodge bar, though, and before I could sit down the bartender hurried over and told me children weren’t allowed and I had to leave. I understand the rule in principle, but it was 11:30 in the morning, with fewer than five other people in the room. The baby wasn’t crawling or crying, she was asleep on me, and I would have been happy to order a drink or two. There wasn’t really anywhere else to go. If even one of those things had been different, I would have understood, but the way it played out felt really unwelcoming. It’s generally a charming little place when conditions are good, though maybe not so great with very young kids.

I love the MTB park, but on some days you can wait a while because only one bike goes up at a time. The parking lot is pretty bad too. I once got a bad chair, and when the liftees shouted to stop it, all three couldn’t hit the button. It took my son out. While he was down in a puddle of slush, they took his skis off rather than help him get up. Chair 2 doesn’t always run, and although lines are generally quick, Chair 4 won’t slow down to help kids get on, like lifts do at many places. There are plenty of positives, including probably the best trails and lifts in the CNY area. But tickets are insanely expensive, especially single-day ones. You’re paying as much or more than at actual ski centers in VT or even at Gore. They justify the cost with things like rental upgrades, but I don’t rent, so why should my ticket cost more because renters pay that? There’s no family season pass either. It’s farther from Syracuse than Lab and Song, and costs more. The season pass went up 19% since last year, after they’d told me prices were settling down the year after they took away the family pass. I’m going somewhere else next year.
