Marjac Suites Virginia Beach Oceanfront

The ocean view is really nice, and I prefer that there’s no indoor hallway. The price is pretty good, and both the AC and heat worked well, so the room stayed comfortable. The regular beds were comfy, though a bit small, and the blankets could be thicker. The pullout bed was kind of badly comfortable.

Marjac offers free entertainment with your stay, whether you want to hear a bridal suite argument or bangs against the wall at 3:30 in the morning. That resort fee must go toward the therapeutic furniture for practicing anger management. Expect front-row seats to conflict and a rough night’s sleep, but hey, maybe it’ll save your marriage. The thin, heavily starched sheets even spark with every thrust. If the toilet clogs, the elevator breaks, or the neighbors become unbearable, ask for a plunger. At least there’s free water. The elevator broke, so guests had to use the stairs until someone came to repair it. It took two hours for staff to bring a power cord after we asked them to check the TV. We had just one facecloth, and when we requested another, they said they were all being washed. The usual table was missing too, though the chairs were there. Whenever we needed help, a note said someone would be back in 10 minutes, which turned into an hour. We used to come every year, but stopped after an intoxicated guest made us feel threatened. After returning seven years later, the service just wasn’t the same. I’m not sure what happened or who owns the place now, but I left sadly disappointed.

We had a relaxing getaway from Wednesday through Sunday, even with chilly, rainy weather. The room was very clean, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the location is perfect. We walked across the street to Abbey Road Restaurant & Pub for appetizers and drinks twice, and tried Johnny Manana's Cafe & Tequileria Restaurant, just a few minutes away. We also got a wonderful Dubai chocolate bar across the street. There’s plenty to do even if you can’t swim, including an art show and sand castle competition, with entertainment for all ages and different interests. This was our second stay, after a quick one-night visit in May, and we were just as impressed. We’ll stay here whenever we visit VA Beach. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
