Sandcastle Beachfront Hotel

The room was clean and the lobby had a pleasant feel to it. The staff were welcoming and friendly too. Sleep was a different story: the beds squeaked loudly with every small movement, and we barely got any rest because shifting around woke us both up. The shower pressure was weak, and the water never became properly warm. I was glad about the cleanliness and the people, but the comfort issues made the stay less enjoyable than I’d expected.

The balcony was a highlight, and the hotel is handy for both the beach and the fishing pier. The staff were excellent, and there’s a nice fitness center. It’s an older place, not a luxury stay, but it worked well for a fun beach vacation. The room had bare floors, so they felt sandy, though that comes with being at the beach.

We were in town for a funeral, not a vacation, and the staff kindly arranged nearby rooms for our family. Our rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable, with lovely big fluffy towels in the restroom. From the balcony, the boardwalk and oceanfront were calming to look at. We saw a beautiful full moon over the ocean one night and a spectacular sunrise the next morning. There are two restaurants on the hotel's ground floor, and the pier, gift shop, and Ocean Eddie's Restaurant are a short walk away. We appreciated the coffee and breakfast bar with muffins, cereals, toast, yogurt, and fruit. Onsite parking was a plus. We didn't have time to use the indoor pool this trip, but we will next time.

Breakfast came in a small room, and there were almost no healthy choices. Most of it was processed bread, pastries, cereal, or sugary items like yogurt, oatmeal, and juice. They had premade egg omelets with processed cheese to microwave, and fresh fruit was the only healthy option I could find. The hotel is older, with dated decor, carpets, and paint. Our double queen room was clean, but its bathroom was very small. The toilet and bath were separate from the sink and vanity in the main area, and counter space was minimal. The fridge was a good size and had a freezer.
