Volcano Inn

When the highway closed, I was in a tough spot. I reached out and the manager was so friendly that a stressful situation suddenly felt like a relaxing adventure. My room was clean, breakfast was awesome, and the hot tub was exactly what I needed. I’d recommend staying here for a night or longer. Ask for Tabby! Mahalo.

The hot tub was available anytime, and the location near the volcano national park was fantastic. Our host was kind at check-in, and we were pleasantly surprised by an anniversary room upgrade. We stayed two nights and loved the rainforest views and listening to the rain overnight. The place has a different feel from a standard hotel, which we enjoyed, though the walls are thin enough that you can hear neighboring guests. It’s more of a B&B than a big chain, so keep that in mind. We’d happily stay again.

We’ve returned to the Volcano Inn more than ten times in three years, and the setting is a big reason. Being in the Hawaiian rainforest, just minutes from one of the world’s most active volcanoes, feels peaceful and special. The staff are consistently kind, welcoming, and ready to help, and the whole property is well cared for. Breakfast is fresh and the amenities stay clean. It’s a relaxing way to experience Hawaii’s natural beauty.

The owner was very accommodating when I changed my itinerary and asked to move my booking to earlier dates. The Volcano Inn is only a quick 5-10 minute drive from the National Park, and it’s a quiet room at a good price if you’re not looking for luxury. Papaya and banana bread in the morning were a lovely start to the day. If I return to the Park, this will be my go-to. Highly recommend.
