The bathroom was filthy, with mold on the ceiling and dripping down the walls. There was no cold water at all, just scalding hot water from both faucets. The bed was uncomfortable, and the thin, lumpy pillows offered no support. I haven’t even spent the night yet, but I’m already expecting little sleep. After a long day of travel, I was exhausted and needed somewhere to rest. Instead, the room smelled horrendous, was stifling hot, and had an AC that barely worked and hadn’t been turned on before we arrived. Outside, the building looked run down and uninviting, and the empty, decrepit pool made the place feel eerie. I can’t understand how this Econo Lodge in WaKeeney, Kansas has positive reviews. It’s hard to believe anyone could have a good stay here, and Google should reconsider those reviews so other travelers aren’t misled. If you’re tired and need a place to stay, I strongly urge you to go elsewhere. This place isn’t fit for guests and should be avoided.

We pulled in at 5 am for a quick nap during our trip. The room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the price was great. Service was great too. I travel a lot, and I’ll keep this place in mind for a future stop.

The front desk staff were nice when I asked for bedding for the pull-out bed and more towels. There were only two towels for four people. The room itself wasn’t well kept. It was hot, and it smelled like mold until we turned on the AC. The pillows were flat and the bed was hard. Outside, the property was in disrepair, and the pool looked like a dumping ground for chairs and boards. The photo looks good, but it’s a different story once you get closer. Outdated decor I can understand, but the lack of upkeep was disappointing.

I arrived to check in at 2 pm and found a note on the door telling me to come back at 5. There wasn’t a single employee on the premises, and I’ve been left outside in 100-degree heat with no shade for three hours with my dog. Customer service hasn’t been reachable. It’s been two hours so far, and we’re hot, sweaty, and dehydrated with nowhere to go. How can there be nobody here? This is a massive safety issue. If there’s an emergency, there’ll be no help. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT STAY HERE.

The room was a nice surprise, with comfortable beds and plenty of space. The other hotels were booked, and at $50 it was worth it. The water pressure was so strong it felt like it could take your skin off. The shower head needs replacing, too, since it’s clogged up with calcium.
