Pine Island Paradise Resort

Right on main street, so it's convenient but not especially quiet. The bungalows are cute, clean, and reasonably equipped. They're older, though they fit the area's laid-back vibe. The A/C works, and the staff are helpful and easygoing. The pool is tiny, but clean, heated, and maintained.

The manager/owner was awesome, and the parking area was spacious. There are bait shops and marinas nearby, plus lots of restaurants and stores, most within walking distance. We stayed in the sea breeze house, the one closest to the water. It was quiet, cute, spacious, and clean, with a living room and pull-out couch, one bedroom, and a bonus screened room over the water. The full kitchen had utensils, cookware, bowls, plates, and more. A boat ramp isn't on site, but there's one very close. Dock space is limited. The bathroom door in the main house wouldn't shut all the way, and the washer worked but the dryer didn't, hopefully they fix it. Fishing wasn't the best for the area.

We stayed on the Thursday before Labor Day weekend. The photos look better than the place did in person. Candy Cottage needed bedroom paint, and the bedding looked secondhand. The bedroom slider was hard to open and close. The pool was dirty and needed resurfacing. After taxes, $221. Complete ripoff!

I needed somewhere to stay while my house was being worked on because of a mold and mildew problem after the hurricane back in September. It's the busy season here, so finding any place was almost impossible. The owner was out of state and didn't really want to rent the property, and she didn't know much about me beyond what I told her. Still, she trusted me. I paid the full rent to the other occupants on the other side, who were a very nice couple. I'm so glad people can still believe in each other. I don't know what I would have done otherwise. Awesome place.
