Charley Creek Inn

The rooms on the third floor are named after universities, and ours was IU. I'm a Purdue grad, but I liked that nod to education in my home state. We were also surprised to find this newly restored historic property just a block from Honeywell Center. The furnishings throughout, including in our room, were impressive, and the framed art was intriguing. One display had an invitation to a recent Buckingham Palace event alongside a demitasse cup. I grew up in Indiana and learned some history here that I hadn't known. Take a stroll through the lobby and spend a little time reading or catching up on email on the Mezzanine. The place was quiet, comfortable, and convenient, with a timeless feel.

We planned to explore Wabash during our two-night stay, but the hotel had so much to do that we ended up spending our time there. We started with breakfast from room service, then browsed the old-fashioned candy shop and got ice cream at the adorable counter. The wine and cheese tasting was awesome. Later we relaxed in the second-floor lounge before dinner at Twenty. The food was fantastic, and we stayed to listen to the piano player in the green hat bar. Our suite was beautiful. We'll absolutely be back!

Our suite was very spacious, with a kitchen and laundry facilities. The only snag was the heat adjustment, which was a bit balky when the temperature outside dropped below zero. We really liked the hotel restaurant and plan to return for it.

Pretty good stay. I would've liked a couple more chairs, or maybe a card table, in the suite's dining and living room. Thank you.
