Hilton Garden Inn Waco

The place was wonderfully quiet, and the rooms were clean. The location was great for walking, and I could take my little dog around the lake several times a day. My one complaint is the $75 charge for her. I know everyone says it, but she's very well behaved. I work with her to stay quiet and sit when I stop, and she holds her B&B during our walks every couple of hours. I'm with her all day, bathe her weekly, keep her brushed, and she has her own bedding, so there isn't much fur.

There aren't many shops within walking distance. A few places to eat are nearby, but for a bigger selection you'll need to drive 5-10 minutes. The rooms aren't new, though they're decently maintained. I stay here often, and the roll-up shades in many rooms are broken or difficult to use. The gym is large, and people say the food is pretty good.

I was in Waco for a week and booked a room at the Hilton gardens. The front desk staff were the most pleasant I've met. They checked my reservation details carefully and suggested a wonderful place for dinner on my first night. Their friendliness and knowledge have made me want to come back.

We tried to check in around 2 p.m., but the rooms weren't ready. The main problem was the heat in the room. It was stuffy and exceptionally hot, so I called the front desk several times before anyone answered. Maintenance came up and reset the AC, but it didn't improve. Other reviews seem to describe the same heat issue. I mentioned it at checkout, and the desk clerk said he'd report it, but I never heard anything back. For what this location costs, it's not worth it.
