The receptionist was friendly, welcoming, and efficient, and we had no trouble getting to our room. For under $100 a night, this wasn't the worst place, and getting on and off the highway was easy. Still, we’d probably only stay again if we had no other options. Our room was clean, and we saw no bugs or mold. We also didn’t notice the smoke smell mentioned in other reviews. But it was badly dated, with peeling floor trim and bubbling linoleum that looked like old water damage. The beds were adequate, not comfortable. Our toilet barely flushed, and the shower pressure was poor, at least in our room. The location felt a bit sketchy. I don’t know Waco well, but the hotel sits between a couple of apartment complexes, or maybe one large one, and we saw a few people hanging around the back or side of the parking lot. Nobody approached us and our car was fine, but some guests might be uneasy. Overall, the hotel needs a major update and feels like stepping into the 80s. It worked in a pinch, and the staff did a good job.

The rooms were clean, though the bathroom could use some maintenance. For continental breakfast, the options were white toast with butter and jelly, a chocolate chip granola bar, or a peanut butter chocolate chip granola bar. The juice dispenser was empty, but coffee was available in the lobby. You could also buy a 12 oz can of soda from the receptionist for $2.00.

We booked by phone, asking for a downstairs accessible room with a king bed and walk-in shower. That room didn't exist when we arrived, and we accepted a queen room instead. After unpacking, we found it had a bathtub. On the second day of our two-night stay, we asked at 9:30 to have the room cleaned and get fresh towels. Nothing was done, apparently because the cleaning lady had left before 9:30. When we asked again for towels, the clerk said, “You must say please.” There was no breakfast or phone, and the shower only had very hot water. The bed had baby pillows, and we got only three. We were told we couldn’t have another. That’s how the stay went.

We'd first booked another hotel near downtown, but there was a problem there, so we switched to #super8. It worked out fine for our three-night stay, simple and comfortable, with no frills. The hotel is very close to Hwy 35, so there was constant traffic noise all day and night. It didn't bother us, but it may not suit you if you need things SUPER quiet.

The room was supposed to be nonsmoking, but as soon as we entered, smoke smell hit us in the face and lungs. The floor was filthy enough to make me wonder if the room had been cleaned at all. The room was decades out of date, with holes in the walls and ceiling. The furniture looked like Walmart pieces put together by a child. There was no smoke detector, and the 1980s sprinkler system stood out. The AC barely worked, and the hall smelled of both cigarette smoke and Marijuana. They advertise free breakfast, but all they had was granola bars and juice. The elevator made me count my blessings to be alive. Megan had only been working her second day and was left alone with very little training. She tried her best to hold it together, and I commend her for that. Still, this stay was practically a nightmare. I wouldn’t recommend it to any of my clients.
