Wagner Lakeside Motel

There was no breakfast, and the room was cold with cold water in room 106. I had an unexpected family situation and needed to leave a day early, but management wouldn't refund that night. They showed no compassion or understanding. I do not recommend staying here.

I was in town for a business trip when an unexpected hiccup meant I needed a room for the night. It cost nearly a hundred dollars, and I left dissatisfied. The toilet overflowed right after I used it, flooding the bathroom. There was a plunger beside it, and the water had to be turned off, so we couldn't shower in the morning. I told the front desk, but they just acknowledged the issue without apologizing or showing concern.

On the way to the Sturgis Rally, we checked in for two rooms for four guests. One room had a door you had to lift to shut and lock, loose shower fixtures, and no smoke detector. The other had food stains and food left on the bedspread, dead bugs in the bathroom, and a smoke detector hanging from the ceiling. They moved us to a different room, but it was still pretty nasty. I brought the problems to the manager. I couldn't tell whether he didn't understand me or was just ignorant. He canceled the room through Expedia and said, "You pay hotel now". After a long argument, he finally discounted the rooms by about $10, and we finished our stay. The managers weren't friendly, and Wagner Lakeside Motel is a real dump. Steer clear.

The breakfast was quite decent, an improvement from before, and my family could see the owners trying to make the hotel better. The mattresses were firm and comfortable, and everything in the rooms and hotel was very clean. The new carpet stood out, and the cleaning staff clearly took their time keeping things in top shape. Keep updating!
