Americas Best Value Inn Walker

The town itself is nice, but breakfast was gross. The apple juice was bad, with fruit flies in it, and it smelled or tasted off. The waffles were expired, and though there were eggs, there was nothing to go with them. Almost all the food seemed or smelled bad. The bread was the only decent thing, and that’s hard to mess up. When my husband and I came back from breakfast, the front desk man was sitting outside smoking. I’m glad he was outside, but staring at us felt kind of creepy. Wi-Fi was very slow, and the alarm clock’s USB ports were broken out. The room was mediocre at best, and one side of the bed was nearly falling off its frame.

At the $135 they want to charge, this hotel isn’t worth it. It feels more like an $85-90-a-night place, and you could spend another $20 to stay elsewhere in town. The bed seemed about 20 years old, and the towels felt like 50-grit sandpaper. There were cigarette burns in the chair fabric and on the countertops. The room was missing its smoke alarm, with bare wires sticking out of the ceiling. Breakfast was basically nonexistent unless you want Fruit Loops.

We stayed here on 11/22, and I can’t recommend it. The room was clean except for mold on the shower curtain and in the coffee pot. At the pool, something with a string attached had been shoved into a jet, and no one investigated it further. The juice cooler was so full of fruit flies in the moldy juice that you couldn’t see the bottom of a cup, and the juice sprayed out instead of pouring. The yogurt was expired, but they told us it wasn’t because it was unopened. As we were getting ready to leave, people walked around our vehicle and looked everything over. It felt creepy and suspicious. This place needs serious management help.

Great showers, and a good choice for staying over during a work week. I felt recharged and ready for the next day.
