Best Western Plus Waller Hotel

The hot breakfast was a lovely surprise, with sausage, eggs, hash-browns, waffles, coffee, and cranberry juice. The attendant kept working to make sure food was available for the big crowd. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the two friendly women at the desk arranged nearby rooms for us. It was a short stay, but we enjoyed it. I first got a good impression of this Best Western Plus Waller Hotel during a September visit to a business associate. So when we needed four rooms for an overnight trip to the December graduation ceremonies at Prairie View A& M University, I booked here. Our son has graduated from PVAMU now, but if we visit the area again, this Best Western Plus Hotel will be our first choice. Thanks for making our weekend so nice!

Breakfast was the main letdown. The usual food was there, but the sausage and bacon were greasier than I like. Although breakfast was supposed to run until 9 AM, I came down around 8:45 one morning and there were no hot items left. On other mornings, I saw the employee turn out the lights right at 9 and switch off the waffle maker while a guest was waiting for the waffle to finish. They should prepare enough for late guests, extend the hours, or pay more attention to the people still eating. We stayed three nights while visiting family for Thanksgiving. Check-in was easy and the front desk attendant was friendly, though not much for small talk. Our spot on the floor was very quiet and had a nice view of a field, with some distracting road noise now and then. The room was clean and modern, and there were plenty of towels for two. The TV, A/C, and mini-fridge all worked, and the internet was adequate though sometimes slow. I used the fitness center twice; the only issue was waiting for the treadmill on the first day, so a second one might help. The location suited us well, felt safe, and had nearby restaurants, small businesses, and a grocery store, with easy freeway access. For the price, location, and amenities, we'd consider staying again.

The front desk clerk was our one disappointment. They were FaceTiming someone through our late Friday check-in and weren't friendly. When we asked for extra pillows, they said, “we don't do that.” We explained our back issues, and they did eventually give us one extra pillow. The rooms were clean, and the location was convenient to the highway, lots of restaurants, and plenty of well-lit parking. It was quiet, too. Breakfast was complimentary, hot, fresh, and clean. The woman running it did a great job on her own, keeping tables tidy, bringing out more food, and even trying to fix the coffee machine.

The three sit-down restaurants we tried were all a huge disappointment. If you want a decent meal in Waller, stick with fast food or drive to Hempstead or somewhere else. The hotel itself was good for travelers and people going to the Texas Renn Fest. The room was quiet and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was decent but nothing special. Staff kept the food stocked and the area clean.
