The room was already warm when we arrived, which was great, and there were snacks for the kids in the lobby. We had plenty of space too, since the rooms are bigger than a typical hotel room. With kids and dogs, that made a real difference, and I loved that pets were welcome. We were driving into Colorado in bad weather and called ahead to check for a room. They called us twice on the drive to make sure we were okay, then welcomed us warmly when we arrived. After a long trip, that hospitality was exactly what we needed. I’d recommend staying here if you’re passing through. Thanks so much!

The owners and managers are lovely people, and the inn was easy to find just off the highway by one of the state parks. It was a quiet spot, with little traffic and a chance to hear the world around you. The place was fairly clean, and fine for a night. The room was basic, with two queen beds, an older TV, a mini fridge, and a microwave. There wasn’t a coffee maker, and you have to drive to the nearest store. The beds and pillows were old, and at nearly too tall for the bed, I had trouble stretching out.

The location is prime, and the motel has an incredible foundation to build on. The new owner is friendly and fun, and it sounds like he’s taking over and working to improve things. Right now, the beds and carpet are run down, and the doors could use privacy locks. I hope the new owners can bring it up to speed, because this could be a stellar place to stay. For now, it’s fine for an overnight.

The rooms were large, traditional, and very clean, and the atmosphere was just what I’d imagined. I’ve passed this hotel many times, but this was my first chance to stay in Walsenburg. I’m glad the wind stopped me from going farther. The owners were lovely, and the beautiful dog in the lobby made it clear my babies would be welcome too. I can’t say enough nice things. If you get the chance, talk with the owner. He’s an extremely interesting man. This will always be one of my stops. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

This was easily the worst place I’ve ever stayed. While we were out, they rented our room to someone else. Close to midnight they put us in another room with mold on the ceiling, trash and cigarette filters under the bed, cigarette burns in the carpet, and dead bugs on the floor and wall. My wife stepped on a sewing needle in the carpet. Who knows how long it had been there. There was no microwave or refrigerator. The TV had the wrong remote, so we had to change manually between the only two channels we could get. They advertise free breakfast, but the office was locked and we couldn’t get to it, which may have been for the best. We also saw a bullet hole in one of the windows. I’d recommend a tent over this hotel. They need a negative rating system for places this bad. If you decide to stay, make sure your shots are up to date.
