Sands Motel

The innkeepers were terrific and accommodating, including for us as seniors traveling with a well-behaved service animal. It’s an older motel, but the rooms were very clean, comfortable, updated, and well equipped. The price was affordable too. We had no complaints, would recommend it, and would gladly stay again. Thanks to the management and housekeepers, and have a wonderful, blessed holiday!

After being treated badly at the Anchor motel, we came here and found wonderful beds, linens, and pillows. It felt like sleeping on a cloud. The manager was great while the owners were out of town, and they’re pet friendly, with dog treats in the office. Wind chimes outside helped lull us to sleep. The air conditioning took a long time to cool the room, but once it got dark it cooled down a lot.

I didn’t expect much at first, but I was happy with what the room had: a coffee maker, very clean bedding and towels, a refrigerator with decent space, and a microwave. There’s a closet and a wardrobe too if you’re staying awhile. They were also quick to clear the snow. The train can be annoying if you’re a light sleeper, though you get used to it after a day. We needed a place after we couldn’t make it to our original destination in Northern CO. The woman and man at the front desk were really helpful. I’ve stayed at other places charging similar weekly rates, and the service and accommodations here were better than what you’ll get elsewhere for this price. I’d definitely stay again if I return to Walsenburg.

We’d driven 14 hours from AZ and got in late, around 8 o’clock, needing somewhere to sleep. They had a room available and let us bring our dog, even with such short notice. They were a lifesaver. The manager was the sweetest woman. Thank you again! ❤️❤️
