Super 8 Asbury Park

This happened at the beginning of January 2025. I went to meet someone for a hookup, and as soon as I got to the room, I felt uncomfortable. There was no sign anyone was staying there besides the person who answered the door, and he immediately wanted me to get in the shower. I took all my belongings into the bathroom, but he then tried to get me to leave my clothes outside. When I refused, I heard the room door slam. I knew something was wrong and left. While I was already halfway up the highway toward the quick check, I got a text from the number I’d been messaging, claiming the police were on their way and that an employee had caught me on camera. I wasn’t sticking around after realizing I may have nearly been robbed. I don’t know whether an employee set it up or someone had broken into an empty room and pretended it was theirs. It seemed odd that anyone other than an insider could get into an empty room. The person was a slim African American man, over 6'3. If you stay here, be aware of the kind of trash that lurks around this motel.

Dad picked this hotel for a couple of days together on a little Father-Daughter vacation, and the price was reasonable. But the bedding didn’t look clean, and my blanket had a large cigarette burn. There was a pretty bad leak under the bathroom sink both days, and the shower was small and uncomfortable. There also wasn’t an outlet in the bathroom for a blow dryer. On our last night, guests a couple of rooms away stood outside talking and laughing loudly, with music playing in their room. We couldn’t sleep at all. There was garbage all around the outside of the hotel, too. We got so angry that we packed our bags and left at 4:30am. We won’t be staying here again.

(June 2023) The customer service was great, but that doesn’t excuse the state of the rooms. Housekeeping seems to just make the beds, with little or no effort spent cleaning. The carpet hadn’t been vacuumed in who knows how long, and there were caked-on stains with hair stuck to the wall. It was foul. The white linens were disgusting, with mystery stains on all of them, including the new ones I asked the front desk for. They’re long overdue for replacement. The lampshades were gross too, and I’m more than sure I saw a bloodstain. Something needs to change, either new housekeeping staff or tighter management. Images attached.

The laundry room shook the whole floor, guests yelled outside all night, and stains covered the mattress, floor, lampshade, walls, doors, and everything else. The place was filthy and loud, and the police were called because guests were so upset with their stays. We should’ve slept in our car instead of putting up with that room. Smoke detectors chirped for days, and staff neither fixed nor removed them. There was no breakfast or coffee, just one towel in the room, and no option for early check-in. So disappointing.
