Valley Inn

The Valley Inn has a convenient location and some potential, and the staff were especially pleasant and helpful. They went out of their way to help us feel comfortable. The linens were clean too. The bathroom let the room down. Shower pressure was really poor, and the bathtub wasn't as clean as I wanted. The room also felt dated overall and could use some updating. With renovations and more attention to detail, this could be a much better place to stay.

We had a large group with lots of rooms booked, and it turned into a bad experience. My brother found a capped syringe in his room, and the manager went into rooms without being invited while my cousin's children were lying down. Check-in itself was easy, but about an hour later the office called us back and tried to charge an extra 70 a night for my two children, saying rooms with two double beds were only for two guests. The facilities were outdated, the beds uncomfortable, and they charged 20 percent tax. I felt like I was paying Hilton prices for lodging just above primitive camping. No thanks, I'll never stay there again.

We took a chance on supporting a small business, but I came away disappointed after our two-night stay. Our room was okay but felt very old, and the comforter didn't look clean. Our friends' room was worse, with full trash cans and a stained, dirty comforter. There was nowhere to buy drinks or snacks when we arrived late. Near the ice machine, there were paint rollers, rags, and trash, and the drink machine outside didn't work.

Callaway Gardens and FDR National Park are perfectly close by, and the price is right. My husband, our dog, and I loved this cozy little motel. The owners were kind and accommodating, our room was super clean, and the bed and sheets were fantastic. The AC kept us frosty cool. The decor is dated, but it added to the charm. If you like the simple, neat feel of the 50s and 60s, this is just the right place. We'll definitely stay again.
