Best Western Park Hotel

My last visit was a big disappointment, especially after a great stay here the year before. The eggs and sausage at breakfast were always cold, and with no microwave there, I had to take them to my room to heat them. Once they ran out of regular coffee and the attendant didn't know how to replace it. About six days into my stay, my heater broke and they moved me across the floor without anyone helping with my things. I asked for room cleaning and fresh towels, which they provided, but they didn't change the bed sheets. I had to ask, even though other hotels I've stayed at do that when cleaning a room. I wouldn't recommend coming back unless they fix these problems.

I picked this hotel for its proximity to the concert venues, and check-in was easy with no trouble getting a room. The day went downhill when the shower had no hot water and the bathroom door wouldn't close, so there wasn't much privacy. I reported both problems but got no compensation. Breakfast was included, though the choices were so limited that I went to a local restaurant instead. Starting the day without a proper shower was terrible. I'd be cautious about staying here and make sure the essentials work.

The room was reasonably clean and quiet, but the bathroom was old and dated. At breakfast around 8:30, the eggs and sausage were cold and hard, the warmers were off, and the pancakes were stale, stiff, and cold. There was no water and no one attending the area to tell, though I doubt they would have cared. Service and professionalism were missing throughout. At check-in, the young woman at the desk wasn't friendly or informative. She told us the elevator was out, so we, two seniors, had to carry four bags up two flights of stairs, and she offered no help. The room had no overhead light by the door; its switch turned on a dim light across the room. The 19-inch TV was too small to watch from bed, the remote barely worked, and there were few channels. My expectations were low, but this place still fell short. I can't recommend it.

My husband works nights in town and would have been staying here every week for one to four days, but we won't be back. He needed a room from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., less than 12 hours, though we paid for the full night. The booking was $105 with tax on Priceline after I was quoted more than $200 for a midweek night. When he asked about checking in early, the owner's “Nephew” charged another $50. I could have accepted that if it had been a busy day, but the place was nearly empty on a Tuesday morning. The elevator was broken too. The “Nephew” was rude and arrogant, and didn't seem willing to work with us or build a relationship with a regular guest. We've never dealt with people like this before. I wish them well, but I can't recommend or stay here.
