Staybridge Suites Pittsburgh-Cranberry Township by IHG

The room itself was really nice, but we spent the night on the first floor listening to stomping from above, both all night and into the morning. The receptionist said there was a guest room overhead. It didn’t sound like kids, and I couldn’t picture a guest pacing and stomping all night. Maybe someone from “Stomp” was rehearsing for Pittsburgh, or maybe someone was on something and pacing. We’d brought swimsuits because the listing said the pool was heated, but the water was freezing. My husband couldn’t get in, even though he can handle cold water. And the pool was so filthy we wouldn’t have used it even if it had been warm.

Room 115 had a bed right by the ground-level window, so with the blinds open anyone walking in from the parking lot could see me in bed. The thin wall it shared with the weight room meant I was woken at 5:30 each morning by a blaring TV and people slamming weights. It’s actually blasting as I write this. The shower never had hot water during either of my two nights, even after I asked the front desk on day one to have someone check it. Room service also never came to clean, though I hadn’t put up a “do not disturb” sign. The room felt old, with drawers that wouldn’t stay shut and an air unit that creaked and groaned constantly. The staff was friendly enough, but it was an awful stay. I’ve had better experiences at the Super 8. Save yourself the headache and stay somewhere else.

Everything else about the place was lovely. The room was in wonderful condition, well appointed and laid out nicely, and breakfast was wonderful. But we travel a lot, and the beds and pillows were extremely hard compared with what you usually get at good hotels. If you like a hard bed, you’ll love this place.

I left before breakfast even started at 6 AM. All night I could hear dripping from the shower, and the towel was completely stained when I went to wash my hands. When I first pulled back the blanket, there was a poop stain right in the middle of the bottom sheet, so I couldn’t sleep on it. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Go to the ones just across the street and down the road.
