Baymont Inn & Suites Warrenton

We were one of about 15 rooms there for a wedding, and everyone was unhappy with the conditions. I know it may not be top of the line for Wyndam, but their name is on it and this place needs a serious cleanup. I took pictures to support this, though I don’t see a way to attach them. The stairwell to the main door was very dirty and smelled of cigarette butter. Key cards were difficult to use on the main doors, once taking 10 minutes, and the door keypad sometimes had issues too. The floors felt gritty, so I was glad I had slippers. Most flat surfaces were clean, except around the microwave. There was no coffee pot, so we had to go to the main building. Sheets were clean but dingy, and only one pillowcase looked white. The towels were badly stained; even the replacements left on the floor for exchange the next day had darker, larger stains. They need bleach or replacing. There were marks on the walls that looked like blood stains. This room needs a thorough deep clean and someone doing quality control.

We were in town for a wedding and booked a non-smoking room in the block. When we opened the door, it smelled strongly like an old casino ashtray. We asked to switch, and were offered a room in the smoking section instead. We stayed anyway, against our better judgment, and the cleaning crew came into our room three times before 9 a.m. Privacy seemed optional there. The whole place felt like the abandoned motel in a horror movie. If you want a relaxing stay, keep driving. If you want to feel like you’re making it through the first 15 minutes of a low-budget horror film, this hotel delivers.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was good. Our room was clean and mostly comfortable, but the property looks old and rundown compared with the pictures, which seem dated. Paint is peeling, there’s rust, and the concrete walkways in front of the rooms are cracked and have holes. The room’s heat and AC unit was extremely loud, and the showerhead was so low that I had to bend my knees the whole time, even though I’m only 5’10”. It really needs updates and maintenance. Still, the staff and breakfast were great.

He gave me perfect service when I had trouble finding the laundry room in another building and my card stopped working for some reason. He helped with all of that, then sorted out a small issue in the room I’d complained about. It made the stay much easier for me and my 7yo.
