Hampton Inn & Suites Providence/Warwick-Airport

Our cheer competition required us to stay here. The walls were so thin we heard the neighbors yelling all night, with nonstop stomping from above that made the room shake, plus a dog whining next door. The whole vibe felt questionable enough that I wondered if it was also being used as a homeless shelter. There was hair on the shower amenities, and no housekeeping was provided. Avoid if you can.

The breakfast was so bad I had to leave and buy food elsewhere. The eggs seemed to contain meat, and staff said there was no ham when I asked, but they did contain ham. Although a sign promised plain eggs for dietary needs, they refused to provide them. The hard boiled eggs looked like they’d been sitting out for days. When we returned, the promised room switch fell through because they said no rooms were available, and our key cards had been deactivated. We got new cards, but the room still wasn’t fixed, cleaned, or restocked. I asked for a room with a working toilet and was first given one bed for three people. We moved again to a room with one bed for three, dirty counters, and pillows without cases. I asked them to fix the problems and have the manager call, but he never called, despite the promise he’d do so around 10 a.m. Diamond Support was no help when I called at 5 p.m. I’ve been a Hilton Diamond member for 10 years and stayed at least 100 Hampton Inn’s, and this was easily my worst experience. From arrival, the hotel’s front door didn’t work. The phone in our room was out, and staff said nothing could be done because renovations were planned. The TV was out too, though someone got some things working after 15 minutes. There was no body wash container in the shower, and the supposed body lotion container held conditioner. The toilet needed at least three flushes. This property is a disgrace to the Hilton brand, with zero accountability or customer service and completely unacceptable conditions. If you value cleanliness, working amenities, and basic hospitality, do not stay here.

The bathrooms have odd sliding doors that don’t lock or stay secured shut, and management told us every room type has them. For families with curious toddlers who might get into the toilet, that could be a serious safety problem. It seems like an oversight for anyone wanting a normal door that closes properly, and it made our stay less relaxing, so I had to take off points. Still, the staff were lovely, the service was good, and breakfast was good too.

Jennifer at the front desk was on her game, and it was nice not to be ignored. The hotel is old and shows the relaxed upkeep of previous ownership or management. My King suite was fine but had some scuffs, and I sank into the sofa. The bed was fine, outlets worked, WiFi was good, and parking worked out well. The snack shop could use more variety. I chose this after weighing the reviews here and at nearby places, which seemed to say similar things, and I felt it was a better gamble than the Sonesta, BW, or Fairfield. In the end, I’m happy with the choice and had a very satisfactory stay. I gave it four stars because it met my expectations.
