The Washburn Inn - On the Lake

They'd just renovated the room, and I was one of the first people to stay in it. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome.

We only stayed one night, and the staff were incredibly kind. They helped us get an early check-in, and in the morning we enjoyed a complimentary cup of coffee with a stunning view of the lake. The room was tidy.

We spent most of our time at the first floor, lake facing apartment, which had a small patio. My family already knew the motel because my brother keeps his sailboat in the marina, but with a bigger group we were pleasantly surprised to find the two-bedroom suites/apartments across the road. They gave us a full kitchen and more room to live. We stayed three nights between a motel room and an apartment. The staff were friendly at check-in and whenever we passed through the lobby for coffee. It's a great base for the area, with a nice walking trail along the lake. The guys booked a fishing charter out of the Washburn marina. Bayfield was an easy drive for shopping, dining, and catching the ferry, then we could come back to the quieter lakefront. We'll be back!

The room was basic, clean, and exactly what we needed, and the desk staff were helpful. I liked being able to stay one night without a two-night minimum, and that dogs are allowed. We used the nice walking path near the marina side of the hotel to take our dog out evening and morning. The Harbor View restaurant patio doesn't allow dogs, but the hostess was extremely friendly and told us we could order take-out and use the tables and chairs just off the parking lot. The Washburn Inn was a great starting point for our Apostle Islands trip.
