Hideous. The internet doesn't work and the TV barely does. At check-in, the person in charge was icy and didn't seem to want to say more than one or two words in response to anything, even when I said, "Good evening." At 5 in the morning on our first night, the next-door neighbors screamed at the top of their lungs for an hour. Nobody at reception answered when we called for help. The same people were screaming again at 10 the following night. We called again and got no answer, so I went down to reception. The same unfriendly person in charge said security would be sent up, without even asking which room the noise was coming from. This place feels like a party spot. The "crew" act as if it's a club with a velvet rope, though it isn't one. If your neighbors are rowdy, don't expect help. We picked it for the location and interior design, and those were as expected. I thought courtesy and a quiet night's sleep were a given. I was wrong.

I returned after staying here many years ago, expecting the same kind of experience, but this visit was deeply disappointing. As a Platinum member, I got no acknowledgment of my status, proactive help, or much willingness to assist when problems came up. The internet in my room didn't work at all, which is a dealbreaker when traveling for work. I paid the full rate and repeatedly tried to contact management about a fix or resolution, but heard nothing back. I've had good experiences at other Moxy locations, and the brand can be a good option. This property in Washington, D.C. fell short of even basic expectations for business travelers. A critical internet problem combined with no support is unacceptable. If you're coming to D.C. for work, be cautious. When something goes wrong, don't expect timely or effective help. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because this stay didn't match Marriott standards or what frequent travelers expect from the loyalty program.

The common areas are lively and fun, and the location is ideal, on a fairly quiet street near the convention center. The rooms, though, are so small and really only suited to sleeping and showering. There's no desk or place to sit, and I can't see how two people could fit comfortably in a queen or king room. If you don't need personal space in a hotel room, it may work for you. This was my first stay at a Marriott Moxy property. It was fine for what it is, but not my style, and I don't plan to stay with this brand in the Bonvoy family.

The HVAC worked well, and the room was very clean and modern. The shower was fine, no complaints. It's a great place to crash after a Capitals game, with Metro Center just a 10-minute walk away, so the location is hard to beat. Two things kept this to four stars: the low-flow faucet splashed water everywhere, and the mattress was extremely firm, European firm. I didn't sleep very well because of it. If you like a firm mattress, you won't have any complaints.
