Alaska's Select Inn Wasilla

The location is awful, and the traffic is horrific. The staff were very unprofessional. They will kick you out if you call 911 for a medical emergency, even after a wife told the front desk her husband was having a grand mal seizure. They had a one-year-old baby girl with them, and the temperature was below zero. Make sure you're in excellent health before you book. Find somewhere else to stay.

The room was clean and nice, but the layout was bizarre. We had two queen beds, with one only about a foot from the refrigerator, close enough to reach out and touch it. There wasn't a chair, and one wall had three mirrored closets in a row. It looked more like a room set up for an extended stay. Nothing like the photos.

We stayed one night in the off season, and with only a couple of other guests around, it was quiet. The kitchenette was a big plus for traveling in Alaska, with everything we needed. Wasilla is a large place with plenty of services and relatively cheap gas. If you can't find somewhere to stay in Palmer, Wasilla is only 20 minutes away.

The woman who checked us in was polite and kind, and they were open late when we needed a room. It was decent, with an adequate bed, though we could hear road noise from beside the room. There was a full kitchen with a big fridge and freezer, large sink, counter space, large microwave, and a two-burner stove. Also had a bathroom, hair dryer, extra soaps and shampoo, closet space, a small coffee maker, and cabinets with dishes.
