Grand View Inn & Suites

A windstorm knocked out power for well over 24 hours, and Michelle at the front desk promptly found a room for my children and me. She was kind and compassionate, and her warm manner made us feel welcome right away. Later, another receptionist overheard us saying we'd forgotten our phone charger and went out of her way to bring a charger and block. The gentleman on the evening shift offered extra blankets in case the storm and outage made us cold, and we definitely needed them. Even after the gift shop closed, the associate working the midnight and early morning shift opened it so I could get snacks and treats for my kids. We had a lovely conversation too. Grand View hires from the heart. That home-away-from-home feeling and all the kindness were such a blessing. My faith in humanity has been restored.

We checked in around 6 PM, and the gentleman at reception was friendly and helpful. At checkout, I stopped at the desk with the keys while my husband went to the car. A staff member quickly assumed the car wasn't his, even though he had the keys and was opening it. I was right behind them and confirmed it was ours. They backtracked and hurried away. My husband was upset, especially since we were paying customers and I'd written down the car details and license plate at check-in. When he returned to speak with someone, the staff member apologized, and we could have let that go as a lesson learned. But the person I assume was the manager came out, yelled at my husband, told him to leave, and wouldn't let him speak, as if we'd done something wrong. We have the interaction on video. I've asked for follow-up through a couple of platforms since there's no direct contact email listed. I hope this gets resolved respectfully. It was an entirely uncalled-for and disrespectful way to end our stay.

I've stayed here twice, both times during Wasilla power outages caused by bad weather. The rooms were warm and clean, with Wi-Fi and TV working even when the hotel was on its generator. Staff seemed helpful and nice. I haven't eaten at the bar because it isn't open while the power is out. A couple of small things: my room's emergency light didn't work, and the pipes made noise when someone upstairs flushed or used water. The hotel might want to check those. The wind noise was surprisingly low considering gusts were 80-100 mph outside.

We found the beds much too hard, though the room itself was nice. The child above us was a tornado, and it would've been wiser to put them on the lower floor. After several complaints, we finally got moved to another room.
