Sleep Inn Waukee-West Des Moines

For the price, I was disappointed. We were in town for a basketball tournament and chose this place because it was close to the facility, but driving around the area is easy, so I could stay somewhere else next time. There are newer, nicer options nearby for less. The room was small but functional. The bed was comfortable, sheets soft, and pillows good. Shampoo, conditioner, and lotion smelled nice, like sandalwood, and the room smelled good too, though the scent may be strong if you're sensitive. Still, the bathroom floor was dirty, the lighting was poor, and I had to do my makeup in the full-length mirror in the room. Light came through under and around the door, paint was chipped in several places, and we could hear people in other rooms easily. Being near the stairwell meant noise from people and kids made it hard to fall asleep. The pool was incredibly small and cold, and the pool room was poorly maintained. The floor was dirty, the room was cold, paint was peeling from the walls and ceiling, the water fountain at the front looked like it was melting, and the door was rusty and gross. The workout room was small too, with one treadmill, one stationary bike, weighted balls, and some dumbbells. Breakfast was gross. The main choices were rubbery, overcooked, flavorless “omlets,” biscuits and gravy that was like flavorless gelatinous goop, sausage patties, and waffles. There were also three cereals, toast, bagels, muffins, juice, milk, coffee, hot cocoa, hard-boiled eggs, and yogurt. We tried eating but couldn't, so we went to McDonald's across the street.
