Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Lansing, MI

The coffee and tea were good, and the waffles you make yourself were good too. Breakfast started at 6 but was cold by 7. The room itself was clean, though the carpets showed how old the hotel is. We stayed three days and four nights without housekeeping. They didn't clean or take the trash unless we put it outside the door. It was snowing when we arrived. The driveway had been partly plowed, but the sidewalk was in bad shape and stayed that way for two days. No one shoveled it until the snow had started melting.

The staff were nice and breakfast was good. I didn't check out the pool area, so I can't comment on it. Maintenance needs to do a better job, and the carpets need replacing. Construction supplies, including long strips, were left in the middle of hallways where people could trip. Windows by the buffet let in cold air.

The customer service is always great, but the Jacuzzi tubs could be much cleaner. You can tell which room I had because the tub is always cleaner after I leave than when I arrive. One time there were two kids, ages 4 and 6, racing through the halls at 1 a.m. with no adult and their little dog yapping away.

The woman at check-in was friendly, but I left right away and got my money back. I was offered another room, but I was alone and the hotel didn't feel safe at all. I really wouldn't recommend it. People were sleeping in the lobby, and the halls had trash and dirty carpets, with what looked like remodeling underway. Kids were running around everywhere, dead bugs were in the elevator, and the third-floor hallway was dark and dirty. There were random people sitting in the hall. My room handle was loose and hanging, and inside, the walls were stained, there was a big red mark on the carpet, and little hairs were on the bed. It felt like a horror movie.
