Comfort Suites Waxahachie - Dallas

We lost the money for a room we never used, and the service while trying to cancel was pretty unprofessional. My wife had booked it, but we couldn’t make the trip. Every time I asked the front desk woman something, she said she needed to check with her manager. When I asked to speak to the manager myself, she claimed she was the only person there and then hung up on me. This was my second interaction with this hotel, and both times the woman at the desk acted this way. If you’re near Waxahachie, Texas, I’d strongly suggest staying somewhere else.

There’s a gym, pool, laundry, and free breakfast, so the place has the basics covered. My room smelled like sweat, and the bathroom had a sewage odor. Neither smell was overpowering, but both were noticeable. I wasn’t in the room much, so it didn’t bother me too much. It’s good enough that you may not complain, though you might tell friends about it later.

We arrived at 9 pm to find our room door wide open. The front desk guessed the carpet might have been washed, which seemed possible given the awful musty smell. The hotel feels old and run-down, with no upgrades, and the curtain hems were stained, perhaps from the air conditioner. For what they charge, they really need to remodel and install a couple more elevators.

My Expedia reservation had been confirmed a full day before I arrived, but the hotel couldn’t find it and wanted me to pay for another booking. The desk clerk suggested I just reserve a room and sort it out in the morning. After speaking with the travel site representative who contacted them, they offered a discounted rate. The travel site said this location was known for losing reservations. The hotel I stayed at the night before, which belongs to the same chain, found mine without trouble. This seems to be an issue with this Comfort Suites specifically.
