SpringHill Suites by Marriott Savannah Airport

Mary, who worked in the breakfast area, made my stay. A short conversation with her was so uplifting, and she’s one of the kindest people I’ve met in a long time. The shuttle driver at 5:45 am was fantastic too, and the night crew at check-in deserve credit. Maybe it’s a Southern thing, but the staff here were genuinely kind. The hotel is well placed for the airport and close to downtown Savannah. The TV channels or satellite had problems all night and morning, so there was no news or entertainment. SHS, get that satellite TV going!

Clean rooms and friendly staff. Breakfast was just average. The TV setup stood out most: one small screen shared between the beds and living area. Kind of odd if you want to watch television in bed.

Our flight was diverted to Savannah, then canceled at 11:30 pm, and everyone was scrambling to find a room. I booked ours through the Marriott App and called the hotel. The front desk team was wonderful and sent a shuttle to pick us up.

For a weekend with the grandkids, we searched Bonvoy hotels in the area for an indoor pool where they could play. Before booking, I called the front desk to make sure the pool was open, and was told yes. When we checked in, I asked for a room near the pool. The receptionist then said it had been under construction since November of last year. I told her I’d called to confirm it was open, and she firmly asked, “Do you want to cancel reservation?” I asked her to check whether other Bonvoy hotels nearby might have pools, but she told me I had to call them myself. That wasn’t good customer service. We ended up staying at an IHG hotel for the weekend. Sad she treated me that way.
