Royal Inn Motel

I brought food to someone who needed help. I didn’t stay long or even sit down, but the place looked unclean, with sketchy people walking around. These rooms badly need updating. I was helping the person find a better location.

I got there at midnight after a UVA football game, and the man behind the glass turned me away for arriving after 10 pm. He kept angrily telling me to “check the reservation” until I finally gave up and left. Being refused was bad enough, and his dismissive, high-handed attitude made it worse. Terrible policies and extraordinarily rude people. Stay away from this property. I wish I could rate it lower.

They’re kicking me out because I flushed a flushable wipe and the toilet overflowed. The management is horrible and acts like royalty. Housekeeping never came, and the bathroom had no shelving. Around the room, shelves were broken, there was no closet pole, holes and weird stains were on the walls, and I was given a smoking room after asking for non-smoking. The TV was tiny and wouldn’t turn off, so I had to ask for a separate remote. The most ghetto hotel I’ve ever been at. 0 out of 10, would never recommend.

For what you pay, it’s worth having somewhere to sleep for a night or a few. My room was mostly clean, the employee was friendly, and everything else was good. It could use upgrades, apart from the new flooring. The comforter should be replaced and the fridge cleaned. I didn’t see any bugs.
