The food was the one semi-good part of our stay, nothing special, but at least edible. The rest was terrible, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. We booked the ROMANTIC Package at the Old Stone Inn in Waynesville, NC, and stayed in the Mt Laurel Cabin, which should be condemned. The bathroom floor is rotten, and the toilet feels like it could fall through. The bathroom was more than dirty, with walls that looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks, heavy dust along the molding, and a tiny shower. The room temperature couldn’t be adjusted to a comfortable level, and the 10" TV was hard to see. The sliding glass door was broken and could only be locked with a piece of wood. The curtains were in terrible condition, too. The driveway to the Inn and the parking lot both need a lot of attention. The office attendant was less than cordial. When I went to check out, he snapped that checkout was in the restaurant, which made no sense to me. The website doesn’t list amenities, and I think that’s because there aren’t any. Our neighbor said there was dog crap on the couch when he checked into his cottage. Another couple who had stayed there before said it had really gone downhill and should close for extensive repairs. Why is this place open?
