Jot's Resort

The location was probably the best of anywhere we stayed on our trip, even compared with much pricier hotels. We loved our stay. Our room had a lovely balcony and a great view of the river, inlet, and sunset, and the price was hard to beat. The staff were pleasant, and restaurants are close by. I didn't see any elevators, but it was still worth staying here.

We left after just one night. The pool was the last straw: there was white stuff floating in the water that looked like snot, which was nauseating and seemed like a health concern. I don't understand how it was considered okay to have guests using it. The whole motel was filthy and badly run down. The room smelled, the surfaces were grimy, and nothing about its condition made it feel comfortable. It all looked like it hadn't been cleaned or maintained properly. Calling this a place suitable for travelers feels misleading given how unsanitary and shocking the conditions were. I can't believe it's allowed to operate like this.

Our daughter loved the pool and sauna, and we could walk over the bridge to a wonderful ice cream place. There was a barbecue we used to cook our fish for dinner one night, plus a wonderful restaurant across the street. We were there for a few days of salmon fishing and managed to make it a special vacation, though the rooms' poor cleanliness left a bad impression. The resort is right on the water, a wonderful location for fishing in Gold Beach. Some rooms have been updated, but the ones that haven't are very old and run down. The place itself is also run down and seems to mostly attract fishermen. Our main issue was how dirty the rooms were. In the first one, it looked like someone had wiped a few things, but the bathroom, floor, and refrigerator were still too dirty for us to feel comfortable. There was hair, mirror smudges, food residue in the fridge, and mud streaks on the floor. They moved us to another room, which was still not very clean, just more tolerable than the first. It was late and we needed sleep. The next day we asked the cleaning crew to come back and clean the floor again. If you're there to fish and aren't bothered by cleanliness, it's a wonderful spot. Friends who visited the week after us found a nearby Airbnb that was very clean and much less expensive.

The bed was really comfortable, and the place was quiet and centrally located. Check-in was meant to be at 4, but they let me in at 2, which mattered a lot since I was pretty tired. I'd definitely stay again, and I will.
