We arrived around midnight, and two rooms hadn’t been cleaned: unmade beds, towels on the floor, trash, and more. We had to go across the street to find someone. The parking lot was almost empty, so we thought we’d get two different rooms, but instead we waited 30 minutes while those rooms were “cleaned.” The TV didn’t work, and staff had already told us it probably wouldn’t. The showers were confusing, there was still trash in the room, and the sink had no cold water. Staff left a pile of supplies on the bed, and we got only decaf coffee packets with no cups. Worst of all, there were splatters on the wall by the toilet that looked like excrement. Very poor management.

They should put coffee cups in the room with the coffee. Hot coffee and a plastic drinking cup don’t go together.

I was only trying to sleep for a few hours before driving on, so the dirty bathroom and missing shampoo and conditioner were a big deal this time. But over $100 a night is still unacceptable for that. What a rip-off. I ended up sleeping in my clothes and wondering whether they clean the beds.

Dolly, the GM, went out of her way to get me the roomy ground-floor room and coffee I wanted. She even included a free meal at Peggy's Diner, which was unbelievable and scrumptious. The room was spectacular, and the staff were friendly and courteous. I’d driven 28 miles from the truck I was working with because I didn’t want to stay in South Haven again. The lobby was closed, so check-in was across the street at the Baymont, but it was well worth it. After checking out the next day, I needed to book another stay, and the staff got me right back into the same room. I highly recommend the hotel for business or any other kind of travel.
