Hampton Inn & Suites Wells

The firm bed was really comfortable, the toiletries were good quality, the coffee was decent, and the place was clean. Some staff were genuinely lovely, especially the friendly, sweet, fun kitchen and service crew, and it was good value for the price. It allows pets and has a pool and breakfast. Our ten-year-old called it the best hotel we’d ever stayed at. We picked this location for extras like the pool, gym, and breakfast, which the kids find fun and make our road trips more memorable. There were some annoyances. The pillows were lumpy and sad, conditioner was out, tissues were empty, and breakfast kept running out. Someone I believe was in management snapped at my unaware 14-year-old son for standing too long at the drink counter, speaking sarcastically and rudely. He’s not very aware of his surroundings and is spectrumy. I made eye contact, and she grabbed a clipboard and stomped away. What the heck. One more thing, it’s the only indoor pool in town, but the water was so cold that I couldn’t get in, though the kids did. That sucked.

The last time we stayed, the room was very nice. This visit was a disappointment, especially the bathroom, and it didn’t feel like the quality I expected from a Hampton Inn. We booked through Priceline as we have before, and the total was $142, which wasn’t cheap. The hotel wasn’t full. If you stay, I’d suggest looking at the room first. I tried to add photos and hope they’re showing.

The continental breakfast was good, and neither morning we ate was crowded. The staff were friendly, especially the woman who ran breakfast. The hotel was very clean, and there’s a nice grassy area behind it for pets, plus a fenced area at the Pilot gas station across the street. For me, it’s easily the best place to stay in Wells.

The night staff member was nice, and I enjoyed chatting with her. In the morning, though, the desk person wasn’t very helpful when I asked for a bag with a toothbrush, comb, sewing kit, and bathroom items. She said she didn’t hand them out, even though I got one on my last stay. Breakfast was okay, but a few more choices would make it great. The pool was really cold, and the pool area could stand to be warmer. There’s no hot tub.
