The bed was comfortable, and the $89 nightly rate is why I put up with the place for nearly two weeks. The bathroom stayed freezing because the wall heater couldn't warm it, even running at 85° all day. They only clean your room if you call to request it. On my second-to-last night, I checked the heater filter and it was so filthy, apparently untouched since installation, that I checked out and went somewhere else.

After staying more than a month, I found out the tax refund I'd been promised was only $90, not nearly $400. The employees had told me I would get $90 a week back if I stayed a month. When I changed debit cards, they checked me out and back in, which apparently affected the refund. I tried to sort it out with the owner, but he spoke to me condescendingly and we got nowhere. I went to the desk two more days in a row before he finally called, and he treated me poorly again. There were other problems throughout the stay. I lost count of how many times the hotel charged my card without asking, then denied it when I brought it up. We also had mail delivered there, and they wouldn't acknowledge it even though online tracking showed it had arrived. My boyfriend was told after we'd already stayed over a month that our room had to be paid before noon or they'd throw our things out because rooms were “filling up fast,” despite fewer than a third being occupied. The front desk girl also said they couldn't afford to open the suites because they didn't have enough tenants, and that the owner had to ask investors for payday money to pay staff. I don't know why payment timing mattered when they charged the card without asking anyway. Don't stay here. Any money you save might just be taken from your card when you're not looking.

Check your bill carefully if you stay at Aspen. I spent one night there on July 2, 2104, but my Visa was charged for two. At checkout, the Manager said the bookkeeper would credit the extra charge that day. Five months later, as of 12/01/14, I still hadn't received a refund or heard from anyone at Aspen, despite calling six times. No refunds, apparently. Consider yourself warned.

The pillow was hard as a rock, the sheets seemed new but hadn't been washed, and there was no chair or towels. My room key didn't work, and the smoke alarm battery was low and beeping. The one next door beeped all night too. I got coffee from the lobby, then poured a fly into my cup from the creamer. This place is horrible.

For what you pay, the rooms are really nice, and the manager and staff are cool. In Williston, other places charge at least $20-30 more for rooms that are gross and have seen way too much traffic. So yeah, forget the bad reviews. When I'm in Williston, I stay here or at the brooks.
