Residence Inn Tampa Wesley Chapel

The room itself was nice, but the A/C ran loudly all night. I gave up trying to sleep at 2 AM and finally noticed it was set to fan, not thermostat. I’ve stayed at Marriott properties around the world and never had one like this. It felt like something I’d expect at a bargain hotel. This hotel is beside a kids’ sports complex, so be aware. When we arrived in the rain, there was no sign at the entrance and no covered place to unload our luggage. The front desk looked nice, but we walked around for a long time trying to find someone. My wife eventually went into the back office and found Jonathan on his cell phone. He walked to the desk phone and acted as if he’d transferred his call there, spoke to nobody, then ended the call and checked us in. I wouldn’t expect this level of service from a Marriott.

The rooms were clean and the location was good, but I’d look elsewhere if you need uninterrupted sleep, especially for a business trip. There’s a Fairfield Inn by Marriott just down the road that I might try next time. The rooftop bar is on the fourth floor, right by the rooms, and they leave its door open so noise carries down the hallway. I asked them to close it later at night. They agreed, but opened it again as soon as I went back to my room. I called the front desk several times about the noise, but it kept me awake into the late hours on both nights. I had work during the stay and an early flight, so that was a real inconvenience. Nobody warned me how close my room would be to the bar. If I’d known, I’d have asked for a different room.

My only complaints are the breakfast and the parking fee. Breakfast had very few options and wasn’t very good. I travel about 100 nights a year for work, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a suburban hotel charge for parking. Charging for a spot in a parking lot is ridiculous. The hotel is in a great location, newer, and in good condition. The rooms are comfortable, and being close to the sports complex meant I could exercise there instead of using the usual limited hotel gym.

The lobby, rooms, and pool area were all really clean and well kept, and they even have a grill. Josh at the front desk was very friendly when he welcomed us and helped us a few times during our stay. This place is top notch.
