Staybridge Suites Cincinnati North by IHG

We stayed in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite, and I was so pleased with how spacious it was. The location worked perfectly for us, with the mall and Cincinnati Zoo each about 20 minutes away. There was plenty of parking, and the front desk staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The woman running the bar during social hour was personable, too. The hotel was very clean. I’m especially aware of cleanliness for health reasons and usually wipe down hotel rooms myself, but every surface I cleaned was already clean. Some parts of the suite looked worn, though the hotel seems to work at keeping it presentable. When we had a couple of questions and concerns, they were addressed right away, which honestly surprised me. Breakfast offered lots of choices, and the food at the two social nights we attended was very good. The kids found the pool good enough. The water looked cloudy to me, but an employee said that was normal. I’ve had a pool my whole life, and cloudy was never the goal. There’s no longer a hot tub, but we didn’t mind. We almost always stay at a Staybridge when we travel, and this was a very good experience. I highly recommend it.

Since Monday night in room 411, I’ve been waking up with a sore throat, runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, and a headache that lasts through the day. When I got back from class today, I investigated and found mold in the room. See the attached pictures. The nice woman at the front desk moved me to room 333. I can see mold there too, though it’s not as bad. I hope they can do more for me about this.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. On my first day, the bathroom area in my room smelled overwhelmingly of fresh paint or something similar, and it set off my asthma badly. Late that night I spotted one roach on the toilet and thought it was just an isolated problem. When I woke up, they were all over, including in my bed and on me. I didn’t feel I was treated very well about it. They eventually gave me a small amount of points for the inconvenience, but waking up with roaches in the bed was still disgusting.

We were here for a soccer tournament, and we’d absolutely come back. The courtyard fire pit was a great spot for all of us to hang out in the evenings. Every staff member was wonderful, so nice, attentive, and helpful.
