Pheasant Run Resort

The fish fry at Jambalaya was fresh and delicious, with a nice salad bar, and golfers will find beautiful grounds. We had plenty to do, from a bonfire for marshmallows or hanging out to a luau at the outdoor pool, a terrace BBQ, and movie night in the atrium. Live music played at night on Bourbon Street, which was meant to be 21 and over, but kids ran everywhere and spoiled it for us, so we left early. Our first room, a golf room, smelled as if it had flooded and hadn’t been cleaned properly. Flies and gnats were already bothering us within minutes. We complained within ten minutes and the very nice staff moved us to a much better tower room. My husband was annoyed that none of the movie channels worked, though we hadn’t come to watch TV. Book a tower room if you stay here.

The people working here are very nice, but this place needs to do more. I was here for a couple of days, and they charged a resort fee while the pool was closed. This was my fourth visit and my last. I’ll never come back.

There are plenty of trees on this short course, and the water is mostly easy to avoid, though about a third of the holes have water somewhere along them. The practice putting green and driving range are a bit far from the first hole. The halfway house and beer cart weren’t operating on the day we played, so bring something along just in case.

The food was really tasty and portions were generous. I was there for a conference for three nights and slept well. My family joined me and enjoyed the pool and shops on the property while I was occupied. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Some areas could use a little TLC, but it didn’t spoil the stay. I’m looking forward to coming back next year for the conference.
