SpringHill Suites Des Moines West

Having both a pool and hot tub was a nice way to unwind, and the gym had a decent setup with two treadmills, an elliptical, and free weights. But the temperature control was inconsistent: my evening run was fine, while the next afternoon was uncomfortably hot. The unchangeable elevator music in the fitness room made it hard to get into a workout groove, too. The room layout had some useful touches, like the sink outside the bathroom, which helped our family get ready in the morning. Still, there wasn't a second sink or even a trashcan in the bathroom. We also found a stray contact lens on the carpet when we arrived, which made me question the deeper cleaning. And the smoke/fire alarms went off twice in our room despite there being no smoke or fire. Safety matters, but having faulty sensors interrupt our downtime was a real annoyance. There are the makings of a great hotel here, but the cleanliness misses and alarms made it seem like maintenance wasn't paying attention. Fine for a quick stop, though I hope the quality control is better next time.

The beds were comfortable, but the room was warm, and I couldn't set the thermostat below 60 degrees. Water also drained slowly from the sink. Breakfast wasn't good, with too little variety, and the coffee always tasted burnt and too strong. The TV channels need improvement.

The evening staff member, a man whose first name starts with L, was phenomenal. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. I had trouble with my card, but we found an easy way to make it work. The housekeeping staff all say good morning and make you feel welcome. This is my go-to place when I'm in town! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The hotel is a little older, but it’s clean, well maintained, and updated with modern amenities. Our room was spacious, with plenty of room to relax or get work done, and the atmosphere was quiet and comfortable. The staff were friendly, too. Had a great stay at SpringHill Suites in West Des Moines, and I’d definitely come back. Great value for the price.
